The surname "de la Musse", still found in France, is directly associated with the Lamusse name, in fact the Lamusse surname is know to have derived from "de la Musse" in the early 1700's. But then again, the earliest record of the Lamusse name is of "Francoise Lamusse" dating back to the 1400's in France so it is possible that de la Musse derived from Lamusse before the 1700's.

The earliest recorded ascendant is that of Jean de la Musse born in the late 1600's. There are quite a few de la Musse's around this time who have not yet been connected to the family tree.
